Education
I believe that our children are vitally important to our future. Ensuring that they receive the best education possible is a top priority for me. Giving our children, teachers and school districts what they need to be successful is something that will continue to be at the forefront of my decision making. I also believe in school choice. Every parent should be able to send their child to where they would receive the best education possible and without the burden of a huge financial bill.
Agriculture
Our farmers are the cornerstone of our state! Farming doesn’t stop for weather, natural disaster or broken equipment. Through unpredictable weather and rising and falling crop prices, our Iowa farmers have seen tough times and have always persevered. Eliminating redundant regulations and needless tax burdens will go a long way in maintaining the longevity of family farms. Keeping ethanol as a key component for our farmers as well as good trade relations with Mexico, Canada, China and Japan help promote financial viability and sustainability.
Small Business
We need to champion our small businesses here in Iowa. Reducing burdensome regulations and making it easier to start and thrive as a small business should be something that needs no explanation. There are over 270,000 Iowa small businesses which make up over 99% of total Iowa businesses and they employ over 651,000 Iowans. Iowa small businesses suffered enough during this pandemic and need our help navigating through the rest of it.
2nd Amendment
I fully support our right to keep and bear arms! I have my concealed carry permit and am a long-time advocate of gun owner’s rights. Being able to protect yourself, your family and your personal property or business is a fundamental right that should never be infringed upon. Stand Your Ground Laws and Castle Doctrines allow Iowans to feel safe and protected.
Healthcare
Quality health care is a need for every single Iowan. It’s not something that some can do without...it’s a necessity! These last couple years have presented some vastly unique challenges to our health care system, from trying to contain a rapidly spreading virus to being able to make proper health care decisions through the internet. Telehealth has become more of a prevalent way of helping, diagnosing and treating Iowans. If there’s anything that these last couple of years have taught us is that our telehealth access and medical freedom needs to become more of a focal point for every single Iowan.
Veterans
As a Veteran myself, I understand the sacrifices that Veterans make for their family and country. Too many nights spent on foreign soil. Too many birthdays missed. Too many anniversaries spent apart. Too many holidays celebrated without family. Through all these sacrifices, Veterans continue to serve without complaint. Giving back to them in the form of proper physical and mental healthcare is the least we can do. Working with our VA system and making sure our Vets get what they need will never fall by the wayside on my watch.
